Medical Imaging Processing System
Introduction
With the rapid growth of medical information technology, devices
and equipment for medical use keep evolving into point-of-care terminals with data
processing functionality. Much like the recent mandates in USA-based medical facilities
for enhancements in EMR other document management systems and methodology, the Department
of Health in Taiwan has adopted DICOM 3.0 and HL7 for the telecommunication standard
for the 2nd generation Health Information Network (HIN) and Telehealth. Moreover,
with the upgrading of Taiwan's National Health Insurance System, hospitals and other
medical institutions are also aggressively advancing their information management
systems to meet future needs.
Solution

PACS, using an Advantech Medical ePlatform, is a PC-based advanced
solution for picture archiving and communication. Through INTERNET (TCP/IP) structure,
the solution converts the image from an endoscope camera into DIACOM 3.0 format
and then transfers the DIACOM data from the modality to the main server, allowing
for data retrieval and processing when required. PACS simplifies the process of
picture archiving and communication, providing real-time, paperless and film-free
terminals for medical applications.
