Aerva Uses Advantech Hardware for Digital Signage to Satisfy Requirements for Giant LED Display

Project Introduction:
When it comes to dependable digital signage solutions, the hardware platform must be flexible enough to work hand-in-hand with software to handle ever-expanding requirements. Aerva, creators of the flexible AerChannel digital signage platform, chose Advantech’s digital signage player hardware to enable the fulfillment of customer requirements for giant outdoor LED screens as well as a multitude of concourse/indoor displays. 

One such solution was implemented at Fountain Square in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC) chose the solution to deliver content and schedule programs for their 42 x 28 foot outdoor LED display. In order to garner the full effectiveness of this large screen real estate, different applications, promotions and games are scheduled to run simultaneously, engaging the audience and generating revenues for the venues in the Square.

Project Implementation:
After two years of service with a rack-mount system, Aerva replaced the hardware with Advantech’s small form-factor appliance hardware, which is more reliable, totally quiet and yields a much smaller footprint.

The digital signage solution on this grand scale also enables inventive campaigns.  One example involves “street teams” who can take pictures using a camera phone and have the pictures display on the giant screen in seconds.  A hardware platform incorporating high-end CPU and chipset components coupled with powerful interactive display network software is what drives applications such as these. Advantech’s pedigree in industrial computing provided the player to fit the requirements for dependability, video optimized high performance, and ease of integration.
