Enhancing Data Accuracy and Efficiency in the Blood Lab

Introduction
In the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), phlebotomy technicians in the blood lab check labels on blood samples with that of patient data from patient health insurance cards. According to Chi-Rey Lin, Supervisor of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, about 13,000 to 14,000 people per month have their blood drawn in the hospital’s lab. On weekends, the hospital sees more than 500 patients per day. Errors can occur if mistakes are made when matching blood samples to patients. To reduce human error and improve service quality, CGMH installed Patient Infotainment Terminals (PIT-1501W) to assist with patient identification.

Solution

PIT-1501W units are installed on the countertops in the blood lab.
