Serial to Ethernet/Wireless Converters

Advantech's Ethernet Data Gateways make it possible to quickly connect RS-232/422/485 serial devices with PC hosts over Ethernet networks, or 802.11b wireless LAN networks. No extra programming effort is required on the host computer. ADAM-4570W and ADAM-4571W are newly serial to wireless L AN Data Gateways. Both wireless data gateways can be applied in mobile environments as integrated wireless data gateways. They reduce wiring efforts and make communication more efficient. By adjusting settings in a Windows-based configuration and port mapping utility, you can easily connect your serial devices to an Ethernet network or an 802.11b wireless LAN.

ADAM-4577 and ADAM-4579 allow RS-232/422/485 serial devices to connect to Ethernet networks and operate as Ether net nodes. Through TCP, UDP, IP Socket or Winsock, ADAM-4577 and ADAM- 4579 can actively access any network device and exchange information anytime, anywhere. ADAM-4577 and ADAM-4579 make it possible for serial devices to communicate with other serial devices directly by peer-to-peer communication. No intermediate host PC or software programming is necessary. Universal Serial Device Gateways can be used for different operating systems like Windows and Linux.

ADAM-4572 serves as an inter face between Modbus serial devices and computer hosts running Modbus/TCP on an Ethernet network. Fully compliant with Modbus/TCP, it is ideal for customers who are looking for an easy way to connect their existing devices or controllers running Modbus serial protocols (Modbus/ASCII or Modbus/RTU) to Ethernet networks.

Serial Media Converters

Serial media converters provide conversion between serial networks and other media. They can convert RS-232 signals to RS-422/485 signals without changing your PC's hardware or software. Also, Advantech repeaters can extend your RS-422/485 transmission distance effectively up to 1,200m.

Fiber optic or USB to RS-232/422/485 converters are specially designed to link various machinery equipped with RS-232/422/485 communication ports to fiber optic or USB interfaces. RS-232/422/485 Communication Cards

Advantech serial communication cards accommodate for multiple high performance peripherals for serial communication such as field devices, modems, PCs and PLCs, using the RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 serial communication protocols. The card only requires one PCI or ISA slot within your system and provides independent serial channels.

Advantech PCI serial communication cards leverages the "Plug & Play" capability defined in the PCI 2.1/2.2 bus specification and also come with a standard 16PCI954/16PCI952 UART containing a 128 byte FIFO that reduce CPU loading of the system. Advantech PCI communication cards are also available with optical isolation, surge and ESD protection to protect your system and equipment against damages and transients from lightning, electrostatic discharges and ground loops.

The RS-485 mode can automatically sense the direction of incoming data and switch its transmission direction accordingly. This feature makes your network look and act just like an RS-232 network. Application sof tware written for half duplex RS-232 can be used without modification. Moreover, you can simply and quickly build an RS-485 network with just two wires.

Fieldbus Communication Cards

Advantech has launched a series of Fieldbus communication interface cards based on technology from Hilscher, a company with a field-proven record in industrial communications technology. These intelligent cards manage the entire data transfer so that only useful data are passed on to user applications.

There is support for three types of popular Fieldbus COMM interfaces: PROFIBUS, DeviceNet and CANopen, and all interfaces are supported with PCI-bus, PC/104 or PC/104-Plus form factors. Advantech provides a powerful, easy to handle and reliable solution at a low -cost. When you're required to use a different Fieldbus system, you can concentrate on your applications and do not need to "reinvent the wheel". All cards are configured using the SyCon System Configurator. SyCon is a universal system configurator with a unified user desktop for all Fieldbus PC cards. By using GSD, EDS or other device description files, graphical input of the individual bus participants, clearly structured menu guidance and automatic computations of the bus parameters; configuration is a very simple exercise. SyCon can be executed under Windows 95/98/ME and Windows NT/2000/ XP operating systems.
